Pumpkin Decorating

We've been working on trying to have more structured Family Home Evenings on Monday nights and also celebrating the Halloween season with Brayden!  We've been doing lessons from the new Nursery manual (Behold Your Little Ones) and then having a fun Halloween themed activity or two!

This night (October 6th) we started by making cupcakes, having a lesson and decorating our pumpkin (while the cupcakes were cooking and cooling), and then decorating (read:Brayden eating) Halloween cupcakes!  Grandma Petersen had flown in that day to watch Brayden for a few days while I tagged along on one of Brian's work trips to Orlando, so she joined us for Family Night!  We had been "Boo-ed" from some neighborhood ghosts the night before so the cupcakes ended up being our treats to pass on to our neighbors!  It was Brayden's first experience with "doorbell ditching" and he LOVED it!!

We found these cute pumpkin pieces (made by the same people that make Mr Potato Head) at  Target and Brayden thought it was great!  3 weeks later it's still holding up!  (We're hoping to get by without actually carving a pumpking this year since we'll be out of town for Halloween!)
"Argh, we're pirates!"
Brayden thought it was absolutely necessary to wear his Pirate hat too!
Brayden enjoying the only cupcake he decorated!  Who could keep going when there was a perfectly good cupcake in front of you?!?
