House Update

Well, today was our original closing date but no such luck! (Keep reading to hear about one of the setbacks!) It will be happening this week though! Brian was home for the day yesterday and then left this morning to work in Orlando until Monday morning, so our mortgage company is going to send someone to his hotel in Orlando so he can sign the papers there and I will sign the papers here, without him. :( Our new carpet will be installed on Tuesday and then, as of right now, we're planning on moving in next Wednesday! We're about halfway packed but we're looking forward to Grandma Petersen coming on Saturday to help watch and play with Brayden while we move.

The major setback we had in closing on time actually is something we're happy to have happened. The mortgage company sent the appraiser out and he then recommended to the company that they require a railing on the deck to be added before closing. (This was something we were worried about before we put the offer on the house but decided that we'd do it once we moved in.) So after talking to the homeowner, who is a general contractor by trade, he said he'd do the labor if we bought whatever supplies he needed after using what he had leftover from building the deck originally. So we arranged to meet him at Lowes and they didn't have the supplies but said they'd be there the next day. They didn't end up being there the next day, but the following day. So we got our deck completed without paying for labor and after a few days, the appraiser when back out and approved the deck! Now we're just waiting to officially have the house!
