Seattle Vacation 2009: Burger Challenge

One of my favorite channels to watch is Food Network and I love watching Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. My family also introduced me to Man vs Food on the Travel Channel. If you haven't seen either of them, I highly recommend them! The basically go around the country and highlight local favorites and on Man vs Food, Adam participates in food challenges too! So we decided we'd have a little challenge of our own...

We started off by visiting XXX Root Beer in Issaquah, Washington. They have a pretty cool little story behind them but it's long so I won't post it all here but I will say that Coke makes the root beer for just this ONE store!
We OF COURSE had their rootbeer! It was great!!
I ordered the Low Rider and it was yummy, but pretty greasy.
Brian ordered the Triple XXX Burger...it was MASSIVE! Probably at least 7 patties under that HUGE bun! And they don't have forks and knives there so they enjoy watching you make a mess! Now I had seen this burger on tv but didn't hear Brian order it so I didn't have a chance to warn him! He actually ate most of it and his onion rings too!
Brayden's favorite part...this huge gumball machine! It was probably about 6 feet tall! Sadly it didn't work but they had others around that did!

Next, we had to head to Red Mill Burgers in Seattle! According to Seattle Weekly, "The Best Burgers in Seattle" for 10 years in a row! Also, Oprah and GQ Magazine put it on their list of "20 Hamburgers you MUST eat before you die!" And it did NOT disappoint!

Yes, that stack of stuff on the grill is BACON! One person's job is to cook all that in the morning and then they use it throughout the day!
Sadly no pictures of the yummy food because it was devoured QUICKLY! I had a Cheese Burger and Brian ordered the Double Bacon Deluxe with Cheese. I have NEVER had such perfectly melted cheese on a burger! Their Red Mill Sauce is HEAVENLY and is similar to In-N-Out Burger's special sauce but with Anahiem Peppers so it has a bit of a kick! We LOVED the burgers and fries but those who ate the onion rings weren't that impressed. It is now on my list of place that HAVE to be visited when we go to Seattle!
Lastly, Burgermaster. We ended up going there because we were headed to Red Mill again after the zoo on Saturday but the line was out the door and we were all HUNGRY! Burgermaster was good but nothing I would drive out of my way for.

Results
1st place: Red Mill Burger
2nd place: XXX Root Beer
3rd place: Burgermaster

Next time we'll have to check out some other burger joints and see how they compare to Red Mill which is now our FAVORITE! Or maybe have another challenge...like SUSHI!
